I count my blessings everyday and I am beyond thankful for what I have. But this week alone has truly shown to me how blessed I am and that I am on the right track. Everyday I get to wake up and do something I love and pour my all into a dream. Not many people get to say their job consists of doing something they’re passionate about. I get to do that and I don’t take it lightly or for granted.
This week I have learned that I am loyal and true to myself, my beliefs and most of all my integrity for what I do as a writer. When I write whether it’s about the latest designer collection, an event, charitable cause or simply a blog post I can tell you I am honest. I can’t attach my name to something that isn’t what I believe in. It’s as simple as that. I choose to live my life in a positive light and I value my time. I don’t have time for negativity and it’s a waste of energy. I have no qualms about cutting ties with those that are negative, in my personal or professional life. If you put out good energy then good things will come to you. If you put out negative energy, don’t be surprised when negativity creeps it’s way into your life.
Not everyone is going to like you or what you do and that is perfectly acceptable. It is a lesson of life that must be learned and the sooner you accept it for what it is, the simpler your life will be. If you don’t like what I do, I respect that as long as you respect my perspective as I believe it. Personal attacks aimed to discredit, insult and hurt someone is childish and something I will never be able to wrap my head around. Like I have said before, when your work is good people will notice. You don’t need to constantly tell everyone how good it is. When you fly onto the defensive, you need to ask yourself why? What are you lacking that is causing you to lash out in an unattractive manner? Good work doesn’t need to be defended just as the truth doesn’t need to be defended. It can… and will… stand on it’s own. I stand behind every piece I write, but I refuse to defend myself or my writing because I have no need to pack ammo nor cast stones towards glass houses.
Sincerely,
Amy Wray
