If you like rockin and rollin whether there’s beats involved or cement there is a new place in town you need to check out.
Lester’s Rock n Roll Shop just opened their doors officially last week. It’s located downtown on Central Avenue right in the heart of it all. It’s no secret the heart is healthfully beating down there now days. There’s businesses opening all the time and they’re opening to a steady stream of traffic. This just might be the turning point this town has needed!
Lester’s Rock n Roll Shop breathes downtown Middletown as its storefront walls are painted with murals of downtown icons such as the Sorg Opera House and Baker’s Bowl. Which perfectly sums up the vision owner Chris Lester was going for. Combining his two loves of music and skateboarding into one. A record store and skateboarding shop may seem like two different things but somehow Lester has executed his vision in such a way that it just seamlessly works. From the skateboards that line the walls to the mixed apparel to the rows of records to leaf through to the vintage guitars that adorn the walls. It just works. And works well.
Lester’s Rock n Roll shop is more than just a record store and skate shop. Lester is also has rooms in the back that will serve as the perfect four corners for private music lessons for a variety of instruments. Lester also has plans in the works to build wooden skate ramps in the abandoned empty concrete lot behind the shop. He also hopes to host events throughout the summer. I have high hopes for this new breath-of-fresh-air era that’s building up right here in our little town. After meeting and talking with Lester I don’t know how this little shop won’t make it. Find his shop at 1123 Central Avenue in Middletown and give him a like on his Facebook page here!
