Let the birthday festivities begin!

Hello loves!

One thing that I love about Memorial Day weekend, it that my birthday usually falls during it. A long holiday weekend for your birthday every year is definitely one way to spoil a girl! Birthdays have always been a big and special to-do in my house. Every since my sister and I were little my mom always went out of her way to make our birthdays very special.

If you know me, I celebrate my birthday several times (is there a crime in that?), but when you’re birthday falls during a long holiday weekend you usually have many excuses to celebrate your birthday many times. I usually celebrate once with a dinner with just me and my parents, a small family get together for a homemade birthday dinner with cake and ice cream, which usually happens on Memorial Day itself. Then a third time with a birthday party celebration with friends, I always hold this in June because the weekend of Memorial Day itself is always incredibly busy with family gatherings.

To kick off my birthday weekend I started the day by soaking up the sun while sipping strawberry margaritas, then I took a nap (a very rare occurrence for me!) before getting ready. Last night, I celebrated my birthday with a birthday eve dinner with my family at a delicious meal from the Red Onion Cafe. Although this place is only a hop, skip and a jump away from where I live, I have only been there once to eat. Everyone raves about their food and rightfully so, because it is pretty amazing! In fact, the food is outstanding for a place that is located in a really small town. For an appetizer we all shared some cheese and bacon fries and for my entree I had the Strip Mary, which is one of their signature crab cakes, a 12 oz. New York Strip steak, sauteed vegetables and a baked potato.

After dinner, I went over to the nursing home my grandma is recovering at and visited with her for a while. She went on and on about how much she loved my dress and we talked as we completed a puzzle together. It was definitely a great cap to a great night. Here’s a few photos from my night!

xoxo,
Amy
