Hello loves!
I hope you’re enjoying your Wednesday! I’m finding myself a bit irritated with people today. This irritation has been building up over the last week and I’ve really just done with the nonsense. What nonsense you ask? The kind of nonsense of people who have to toot their own horn constantly.
Now I’m all for giving credit where credit is due and sharing something that you are proud you achieved. But it’s when you have to constantly tell everybody how good you are or blast it to the world every time someone gives you any sort of compliment. There is a big difference between sharing your success and boosting about your success.
Boosting about your success is a big turn off for many people. Instead of showcasing your success or your work it reads to people that you are insecure of your work and fishing for compliments of reassurance or trying to exaggerate your success in order to fill some kind of void you feel.
When your work is good it truly does speak for itself and doesn’t need the help of its owner tooting it’s horn. But keep in mind that not everyone is going to agree with you that your work is amazing. Not everyone is going to like you or your work and that is absolutely fine and acceptable. In fact it’s those haters that should the fire that lights your motivation. Also, listen to what your haters do say.. make a mental note of it. You also don’t want to automatically consider someone a hater just because they say something negative about your work, listen to what they have to say. Listen to anyone who offers you suggestions on how to improve… whether its some average joe off the street or an industry veteran, listen to what they say. You never know who or when a great idea will present itself.
Be confident in what you do, but don’t be overly confident. There is always room for improvement.
xoxo,
Amy
